On 17 August 2026 the Scientific Committee delivered to the President of the Promoting Committee the draft of the nomination Dossier for “The Feast of Saint Agatha in Catania” to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the result of the work of study, research and listening carried out up to that point.

From that step begins a new phase, just as important: the draft is now returned to the community, so that it can be read, shared and further enriched before the drafting of the final Dossier.

The UNESCO Dossier follows a strict and necessarily concise international format, the same for all nominations. Each section has precise space limits, designed to allow the assessment, according to common criteria, of heritages very different from one another. Telling in a few pages a complex, layered and living reality like the Feast of Saint Agatha therefore requires a great effort of synthesis.

For this reason the Dossier will also be accompanied by videos, documentation and supplementary studies, able to explore aspects that the main format does not allow to develop fully.

But no synthesis can do without the voice of those who live the Feast, safeguard it and pass it on.

After the hearings and listening moments already held, we invite everyone to read the draft carefully and to send comments, additions, suggestions or proposed changes through the dedicated form.

Every contribution will be carefully taken into consideration in drafting the final Dossier.

Because this path is not only about a nomination: it concerns the way a community chooses to recount what it has received, safeguard what it lives and hand it on to the future.
